|  The Land of Fire is one of the largest and most powerful countries in the series. Its main hidden village, Konohagakure or Hidden Leaf Village, is the home of the main cast. The Land of Fire is appropriately oriented towards the element of fire, typically having very bright and warm weather. While not the largest country, it has the largest hidden city.

Riuku | |  The Land of Wind is a typically dry and windy climate, and is covered in large deserts as a result. Sandstorms are a common occurrence. The Land of Wind is home to Sunagakure or Hidden Sand Village. It had been relatively uninvolved with politics until recent times, and even had a peace treaty signed with the Land of Fire.

Riuku | |  The Land of Lightning has also seen little attention in the series. The first data book describes it as a peninsula divided by a vast mountain range, with numerous rivers running from it out to sea. Hot springs are also prevalent within the country. Its hidden village is Kumogakure, the Village Hidden in the Clouds.

What little is known is that it is covered in rocks and caves, with mountains acting as a natural border for the country that make communication with other countries difficult. The winds of the country are also particularly strong, picking up rocks as they go and dropping them upon cities. They are not allies with the Land of Fire. Their hidden village is Iwagakure, the Village Hidden in the Rocks.

|  The Moon Country is located in a southern sea and includes Crescent Moon Island. The country draws its name from the shape of the island itself. Due to its location, the country experiences mild weather and a constant summer state. This helped it become a popular tourist retreat along with its entertainment and gambling establishments. At one point the country hired wandering ninja; however it currently maintains one ninja village. A ninja has been shown to wear a headband bearing a crescent moon, but no direct connection to this island has been made as of yet.

Bliss | |  The Land of Rain is home to Amegakure or Hidden Rain Village, and is filled with a great number of small buildings in a heavily wooded area, suggesting that it might perhaps be located in a rainforest. Its borders are highly defended, and those wishing to pass through the country must first give their name, purpose, and amount of time they intend on staying in the country before being allowed admission. Even if one is permitted to enter the country, they will be under constant surveillance by the government for the duration of their stay.

Additionally, their ninja wear special chakra armor that makes them virtually immune to ninjutsu and genjutsu.
